If you are just joining us, go here to start at the beginning of Galatians.
So Paul didn't storm in and start telling them all that they were wrong, he went to Peter, James and John and told them the truth God had shown him, the truth that he had been preaching to the Gentiles.
It is a good reminder to us that we are to speak the truth in love. (Ephesians 4:15)
5 We didn’t give in to them for a moment. We wanted the truth of the good news to remain with you.
7 In fact, it was just the opposite. They saw that I had been trusted with the task of preaching the good news just as Peter had been. My task was to preach to the non-Jews. Peter’s task was to preach to the Jews. 8 God was working through Peter as an apostle to the Jews. He was also working through me as an apostle to the non-Jews.
It seems funny that God would call Paul to minister to the Gentiles instead of the Jews, because if anyone knew the Jewish laws and customs it was Paul.
But God often takes us out of our comfort zones, because He wants to us to die to ourselves and our own comfort and live for Him. He wants us to depend upon His power and strength not our own, because He is the one that will do the work through us.
We are all called to different things in life, but as long as Jesus is the center of it, we need to support, respect and love each other.
It kind of made me smile because the church didn't want Paul to forget that they needed support, even if he left and ministered to the Gentiles. Then it got me thinking, we are saved by grace but that doesn't mean that we sit around and do nothing waiting to go to heaven.
We are to be zealous for good works...
"Looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works." Titus 2:13-14
Thank you for dying so that we can be saved, for being the perfect example of love. Help us to live free in grace but be filled with a love for others and a zeal to do good works for you, because we are saved not because we feel that we need to earn our salvation. In Jesus name, Amen
Have a blessed week,
