Some times we all have days where we just want to throw our hands up and say, Enough!! I can't handle one more thing! (or another minute of the same thing) I will admit that I have been in this place a lot lately.. and this is what God is showing me...
Some times God allows His children to be exiled into a place that if left up to us we would have never chosen it..
Jeremiah 29:11 is a verse that we quote often..
"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope."
But have ever read the rest of that chapter?
Do you realize that when God gave His children this promise that they were in exile?
And not only were they in exiled into captivity, but it says in verse 4 that God caused them to be carried away captive.
So what are we supposed to do when we feel exiled into a set of circumstances that are painful, hard, and overwhelming? We are to build houses and plant gardens, have families. (v.5-7) In other words we are to keep on keeping on.. we are to draw close to God and He will give us peace (v.7) and strength to make it through. He has allowed affliction and exile so that we will bear fruit.
Genesis 41:52 says “For God has caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction.”
So when we are ready to throw our hands up in defeat let's remember that God has a purpose for everything..( Romans 8:28) and He has created us for a specific purpose (Eph.2:10)... that He will complete the work He has started in us. (Phil. 1:6)
On that note let's go jump in some puddles and spend our day singing praises in the rain!
