'Not called!' did you say? 'Not heard the call,' I think you should say.
Put your ear down to the Bible, and hear Him bid you go and pull sinners out of the fire of sin. Put your ear down to the burdened, agonized heart of humanity, and listen to its pitiful wail for help. Go stand by the gates of hell, and hear the damned entreat you to go to their father's house and bid their brothers and sisters and servants and masters not to come there. Then look Christ in the face — whose mercy you have professed to obey — and tell Him whether you will join heart and soul and body and circumstances in the march to publish His mercy to the world. — William Booth, founder of the Salvation Army
The part that really struck me was...
"Go stand by the gates of hell, and hear the damned entreat you to go to their father's house and bid their brothers and sisters and servants and masters not to come there."
.. if this doesn't motivate us I don't know what will.
As believers we are called to go into all the world and share the gospel, the good news of Jesus.
And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone." Mark 16:15
We can't all leave our homes and go out into the far reaches of the earth.. even though we may want to at times. Sometimes God calls us to stay behind and pray or support missionaries that are out in the field.
But that doesn't mean we aren't supposed to share Christ with others, we share with our words as well as the witness of our lives.
With the beauty of this thing called the World Wide Web.. aka the internet I am able to share about my life and faith and reach many people that in the past would have been unreachable, right from my living room.
It is a beautiful thing to think about how we may be influencing and encouraging other people that we may never meet this side of heaven.. how awesome will it be when we all meet before the throne of God to worship Him together... One big happy family of believers.
