“He whose head is in heaven need not fear to put his feet into the grave.” ~Matthew Henry
My heart aches for his beloved wife as her loss is great. But in her very voice, I can feel the peace of the Lord within her. At a moment in her life when many would crumble in utter grief, she knows in the depth of her soul that her loss is his reward. The joy of the Lord! It is an amazing, blessed thing.
Today we visit her home. It is a bittersweet time. The home he once filled with his presence and his life will never be the same. It looks different. Feels different. It is different. There is an undertone of loss, sadness, and grief, but greater than all of those emotions is the very presence of God himself.
His peace overcomes our sadness.
We spoke with one another about that great hope we have in Him. What a blessing and gift to behold. At our lowest times, His promises and His peace lift us up above our circumstances and our pain. Oh, how my heart aches for those who do not know His presence, His peace, or His comfort. We ask each other… what do you even say to someone who does not know? And then, as we share a meal together we thank Him that we do know and pray for those who do not.
“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me will live, even though they die.” ~John 11:25
“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.” ~Psalm 116:15
“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” ~Psalm 23:4
Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.” ~Luke 23:43
To God be the praise and glory forever and ever. Amen.
