In Hosea 10:12 it is clear how important it is to seek the Lord above all else! Jeremiah speaks specifically about us not sowing among thorns, "For thus says the LORD to the men of Judah and Jerusalem: 'Break up your fallow ground, And do not sow among thorns.'" Jeremiah 4:3.What do you think that means? Well to me it means that we shouldn't go after anything other than the things that the Lord directs us to. When we put and seek Him first, we will not find ourselves waisting time seeking things that are outside of the Lord's will for us. Our walks with the Lord should be consumed with seeking, asking and knocking in order to know His will, which He will reveal to us in His perfect timing. All to often in our relationships and walks with Christ we tend to slow down in the area of seeking and putting Him first. The reason may be that we are very impatient or just simply too lazy to make the effort. Who knows? But I know this, seeking Him and putting Him first must continue to be the focus of our walks. If we are not doing so, we will find ourselves going after things that don't matter or things that can hurt us physically or more importantly spiritually. I remember how the verses that I am referencing in this devotion really affected me and warned me to stay sharp in my walk, and watch out for anything that might not be of the Lord. So, how can we stay sharp? Read our Bible's daily, seek after those things that are righteous, and above all follow hard after Him with our whole hearts, putting Him first. Then, with absolute faith in the promise of God's word we will see Him do mighty and wonderful things in our lives and hearing Him as clearly as ever as we seek Him. "Let us know, Let us pursue the knowledge of the LORD. His going forth is established as the morning; He will come to us like the rain, Like the latter [and] former rain to the earth." Hosea 6:3.
