“Abba, Father,” he cried out, “everything is possible for you. Please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.” - Mark 14
...and yet here I am living day to day with the cup that God has given me to drink.
Sometimes life on this earth seems hard, and complicated, and well I could go on and describe it using a whole list of emotions but, when it all comes down to it we are called to obedience, to sacrifice, to love not only God but others, (in fact the Bible says this is how the world will know that we belong to Him.)
And what a great example of love, and obedience we have in Jesus.
But in the end I cling to the example of my Jesus.. remembering that with God all things are possible, knowing that He will give me the strength to not only say the words " not my will but yours be done Father" but to live them with my every breath.
I must take up my cross...
23 Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross daily, and follow me. 24 If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.- Luke 9
But in giving up our lives we will find a life so full of mercy, and grace, and love that it will all be worth it in the end.
So this Easter let's not only remember the cross of Jesus, but the obedience of Jesus and be encouraged to follow His example.
