Just joining us? Welcome! Go here to start at the beginning of Galatians.
4 Some of you are trying to be made right with God by obeying the law. You have been separated from Christ. You have fallen away from God’s grace.
But He wants us, so He died to have us.
That is why the cross has value to us, if we could do it ourselves Christ would be of no value to us.
Oh, the beauty of grace.
We get to run the race He has set before us, in freedom!
I have to read my bible everyday, I have to pray for 30 minutes.. these are good things but if they become the law in our mind and then we fail, and miss a day, or fall asleep after praying for only 15 minutes then what?? We get upset with ourselves and start to feel unworthy.. this is not from God.
He didn't die so we could follow the rules, He died so we could have a love relationship with Him.
We don't spend time with Jesus because we have to, but because we get to, not because it is right but because it is good. God wants a love relationship with us not a relationship based on rules and laws.
11 Brothers and sisters, I am not still preaching that people must be circumcised. If I were, why am I still being opposed? If that were what I preach, then the cross wouldn’t upset anyone.
12 So then, what about troublemakers who try to get others to be circumcised? I wish they would go the whole way! I wish they would cut off everything that marks them as men!
15 You must not keep on biting each other. You must not keep eating each other up. Watch out! You might destroy each other.
But if we try to do this in a legalistic way, in our own power, we will end up tired, stressed out and in the end we will fail... because loving people is hard.
So how do we do this, you ask?... Read on.
17 The sinful nature does not want what the Spirit delights in. And the Spirit does not want what the sinful nature delights in. The two are at war with each other. That’s what makes you do what you don’t want to do. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the authority of the law.
22 But the fruit the Holy Spirit produces is love, joy and peace. It is being patient, kind and good. It is being faithful 23 and gentle and having control of oneself. There is no law against things of that kind.
So let's live in response to the love of God, let's never miss the grace, let's live this life, this adventure with Jesus.
