But the LORD directs his steps. Proverbs 16:9
So you may have noticed that I was MIA for most of last week... well maybe not, but let's pretend you pay that close of attention to my every post..makes me feel better ;) Anyway, as the verse above says.. I had my week all planned out , I was gonna write a garden blog, post some yummy recipes, go to Bible study on Wednesday night, have a girls night out with the girls on Thursday... and THEN the phone rang on Monday night at 10:30. I know you are thinking what I was thinking, it is never good news when the phone rings at that time of night.. or maybe you get calls at all hours?? But for me the phone rarely rings that late at night... Sorry I digress, so the phone rings and it is my friend and he says, we are in the emergency with the baby can you go to our house and watch the other 3 kids so that the babysitter can go home?
So I pack a bag and am out the door.. mind you at this point I am thinking they will be home late and then life will be back to normal and I can go back to my "plan" for the week. Hahahaha! Forgive me for the crazy laughter but, that is sooooo not even close to what actually happened! Without going into too many details let's just say that I pretty much spent the week at the their house, nursing sick boys with the flu and changing more diapers then I have in a long while. BUT on the flip side.. I was given more snuggles and kisses then I can count and got to build an ambulance out of legos with two of my favorite big boys... one of which in his words was "handsome today because my shirt has a collar."
I may have been beyond tired by Friday (by the way I have a whole new appreciation for you stay at home Moms) and of course got the flu when it was all said and done. But I wouldn't have traded it for the world. Funny how God's plans may not be the same as ours but are a blessing and full of joy just the same.
Here are some pictures of the little men that filled my week with such joy...
