Just studied this passage at church on Sunday...
"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." Romans 12:1-2
We are called to present our selves as a living sacrifice to God.. but we don't have to do it on our own power.. t says that we are to do it by the MERCIES of GOD. It also says that it is our reasonable service.. a response to what God has done for us. All we have to do is accept the love of God and put Him first in our lives. How do we learn about the love of God and put Him first?? By the renewing our minds.. by spending time reading the word and in prayer and then we get to live our lives as a response to His love.
Okay, on to the recipe.. I just have to say that I can't believe tha I haven't shared this recipe with you guys yet!? It is easy and yummy and one of my new favorites.
What is it you ask??
Cranberry Chocolate Bread Pudding
- 6 cups bread, cubed
- 1/4 cup melted butter (I usually use even less)
- 2 cups milk
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup sugar or less
- a little vanilla and a little cinnamon
- Now for the add ins.. a handful of berries or stone fruit or do dried cranberries and chocolate chips like me.
Put bread, chocolate chips and dried cranberries in an 8x8 casserole dish (I always hit it with a little cooking spray..even though the original recipe doesn't say to.) Then mix all of the other ingredients together and pour over the stuff in the dish. Now for the hard part.. the waiting...you have to put it in the fridge for at least a few hours, but it can be up to overnight.
Then bake at 375 degrees for 35-45 minutes.
Just a side note I have doubled the ingredients and put it in a 9x13 and it works great.
** Update- July 2011- I made this for 4th of July and used some frozen berries and mini chocolate chips, and it is my new favorite way to make this. I just put the berries in frozen along with everything else and let it sit in the fridge. Yum!
